After successfully completing the "UX Tools survey campaign - 2021", UXNess brings the annual UX design tools survey 2022 results(2nd UX Tools Survey campaign).
This survey is aimed to learn about UX & design tools and preferences by UX professionals, students etc. This is 2nd consecutive year of UX Tools survey campaign run by UXNESS Edulabs to understand the preference of using UX tools.

2022 — UX Tools Survey Results
Participants profile
Wireframing & Prototyping Tools
Figma, Adobe XD were the top choice wireframing & prototyping tools by the participants continuously for second year. 32% participants chose only Figma as ‘Wireframing & prototyping’ tool, whereas 10% selected Adobe XD only. 51% participants who use Figma were up to 5 years of experience. Notable entries this years – Antetype, Drama, UXPin, ProtoPie, Canva.
UI Design Tools
Figma, Adobe XD were the top choice UI design tools by the participants continuously for second year. 36% participants chose only Figma as ‘UI Design’ tool. 13% participants selected Figma and Adobe XD together as UI design tool. Notable entries – Antetype, Visual Sitemaps, Canva.
Digital Whiteboarding Tools
Surprisingly Figma leveled up this year and secured 1st choice in Digital whiteboarding with 40% participants choice. Figma, Miro, Figjam, Adobe XD, Mural were the top choice for conducting digital whiteboarding by respondents. 28% participants who chose Figma & FigJam were up to 2 years of experience. Notable entries - Lucidchart, Jamboard, Whimsical, Overflow.io, Invision Freehand.
Design handoff Tools
Figma, Sketch were the top choice Design handoff tools by the participants. 63% participants who selected ‘I do not use design handoff tools’ were students or up to 2 years of experience. Majority of respondents who use Design handoff tools marked their role as UX designers. Notable entries – Avocode, Pixels, ProtoPie.
User Research Tools
Google forms and User Interviews were the top choice User research tools by the participants for consecutive 2nd year. 27% participants who chose User Interviews were up to 2 years of experience. Notable entries - Condens, Airtable, Evolve, Aurelius, EnjoyHQ.
Behavioral Analytics Tools
Google analytics and HotJar were the top choice user behavior analytics tools by the participants consecutive 2nds year. 33% participants do not use any behavior analytics tool. 37% participants who use behavior analytics tools were above 5 years of experience. Notable entries – UXTweak, Pendo, FullStory, Adove Analytics, Amplitude.
Virtual Collaboration Tools
Zoom, Google Meet, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Miro were the top choice virtual collaboration tools by the participants. Notable entries – Trello, GitHub, Discord, Asana.
